Stats

Review totals, trends, and chart-driven drilldowns across your document corpus on the Investigation overview page.

Overview

The Stats page, titled Investigation overview, summarizes the documents in a date range and the intelligence extracted from them. It shows totals for documents, entities, and relations, and six charts. Most charts open a list of the matching documents when you click a value.

Open the page

Click Stats in the navigation bar. IntQuest also opens this page after you sign in.

Page layout

  • 1 Header - the page title Investigation overview.
  • 2 Updated - the time of the last update, the Refresh statistics now button, and the Live workspace label.
  • 3 Toolbar - the search field, Saved, Search, the From and To dates, the time window, and the reset button.
  • 4 Summary strip - totals for Documents, Entities, and Relations in the selected range.
  • 5 Charts - six chart cards in three rows of two.
  • 6 Chart buttons - Download data as CSV and Maximize chart.

The page refreshes on its own every 2 minutes while the browser tab is visible. Click Refresh statistics now (circular arrows icon) to refresh at once. If a refresh fails, a message says Couldn't refresh statistics., offers Retry, and keeps showing the data from the last successful refresh.

Search and filter controls

  • 1 Search field - words, phrases, or keyword filters.
  • 2 Saved - opens the saved filters menu.
  • 3 Search - runs the search now.
  • 4 From and To - the start and end of a custom range.
  • 5 Time window - Custom, Last 6 hours, or Last 24 hours.
  • 6 How the time window works - shows a short explanation of the time window.
  • 7 Reset search, dates, and time window - restores the defaults.
  • 8 Status line - confirms that results update automatically when filters change.

Search field

  • Search field: type words, phrases, or keyword filters. Results update automatically when you pause typing. Press Enter to search at once. Leave the field empty to include every document in the selected date range. Press / anywhere on the page to jump to the field.
  • Clear search (X inside the field): empties the field. It appears only when the field contains text.
  • Saved: opens the saved filters menu. Use it to save the current search or to load or delete a saved one. See Saved filters.
  • Search: runs the search now.

The toolbar also has a Reset search, dates, and time window button (circular arrow icon) at the right end. It clears the search field and restores the default date range. It is unavailable when nothing has changed.

The line under the toolbar confirms that results update automatically when filters change.

Date and time controls

  • From and To: the start and end of a custom date and time range. Click either field to open the date-time picker, or type a value in the YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM format.
  • Time window: a three-option switch that chooses how the range is set.
    • Custom uses the dates in From and To.
    • Last 6 hours shows the six hours that end now.
    • Last 24 hours shows the 24 hours that end now.
  • How the time window works (question mark icon): shows a short explanation of the time window.

While Last 6 hours or Last 24 hours is selected, the From and To fields are disabled. Select Custom to edit the dates again.

The date-time picker shows a month calendar with month and year selectors and previous and next month arrows. Below the calendar, set the hour and minute on a 24-hour clock. A value applies as soon as you pick it; the picker has no separate Apply button. The start must be earlier than the end, and the end can’t be later than now. If you pick an invalid value, the picker restores the previous value and shows a message such as Start must be earlier than the end date.

How the range behaves:

  • A Custom range is fixed. It stays the same for the rest of your browser session, including when you leave the page and come back.
  • Last 6 hours and Last 24 hours are rolling windows. IntQuest recalculates them from the current time every time the results refresh, so the range moves forward as time passes.
  • The default range is the 24 hours before you signed in. Signing in again resets the range.

Time zones: date filters use the time of your browser, but document times are recorded in the server’s time. If your computer and the IntQuest server are in different time zones, the results are shifted by the difference. Set your computer to the same time zone as the server, or widen the range to compensate.

  • 1 From field - the field being edited.
  • 2 Month and year - the previous and next month arrows and the month and year selectors.
  • 3 Calendar - click a day to pick it.
  • 4 Hour and minute - the time on a 24-hour clock.

  • 1 Help text - explains the quick windows and Custom.
  • 2 Time window - Custom, Last 6 hours, or Last 24 hours.
  • 3 How the time window works - the question mark icon that shows the help text.

Share the current view

The address bar of the Stats page holds the current search and date range. Copy the address to share the same view, or use the browser Back and Forward buttons to return to earlier filters.

Saved filters

A saved filter stores a search query together with the date range, the time window, and, on the Search page, the displayed result fields. Saved filters belong to your account and are available on both Stats and Search.

  1. Click Saved, then click Save current search…. You can also press Ctrl+S.
  2. In the Save Filter dialog, type a name in the Name field.
  3. Optional: edit the Query field. It is pre-filled with your current search.
  4. Click Save. A message confirms the saved filter. Click Close to cancel instead.

On the Search page, Save current search… is unavailable until you type a query.

Load or delete a saved filter

Click Saved to open the menu. The Saved filters list shows every filter you saved, or No saved filters yet when the list is empty.

  • Click a filter name to apply it. IntQuest restores its query, date range, and time window, and runs the search. The applied filter is marked Active.
  • Click the X next to a filter, or select it and press Delete, to delete it. Deletion doesn’t ask for confirmation, but the message that confirms it has an Undo button for a few seconds.

  • 1 Saved - opens and closes the menu.
  • 2 Save current search… - opens the Save Filter dialog.
  • 3 Saved filters - your saved filters, or No saved filters yet.

  • 1 Name - the name of the saved filter.
  • 2 Query - the search query, pre-filled with your current search.
  • 3 Close - closes the dialog without saving.
  • 4 Save - saves the filter.

Summary strip

  • 1 Results in selected date range - the heading of the summary strip.
  • 2 Documents - matching documents.
  • 3 Entities - entity annotations in those documents.
  • 4 Relations - relation annotations in those documents.

Under the heading Results in selected date range, three cards show totals for the active search and date range:

CardWhat it counts
DocumentsDocuments that match the search in the date range.
EntitiesEntity annotations in those documents.
RelationsRelation annotations in those documents.

When data for the previous period is available, a card can also show a change badge, such as 12% vs prev. period. It compares the total with the previous period of the same length.

Charts

Each chart card has a title, a one-line description, and buttons in its header:

  • Download data as CSV (download icon): saves the chart’s values to a CSV file. It appears only when the chart has data.
  • Maximize chart (corner arrows icon): opens the chart in a large overlay. Click Restore, press Esc, or click outside the overlay to return.
ChartShowsClickable
Documents Over TimeThe number of documents processed per day in the range, as an area chart. No
Attribute DistributionThe share of extracted entity attributes by type, such as PERSON or ORGANIZATION, as a ring chart with a legend.Yes
Top 10 EntitiesThe ten most frequently extracted entities, as a ranked list with bars and counts.Yes
Top 10 Annotation SourcesThe attribute types that label the most entities, as a ranked list.Yes
Relation DistributionThe share of relation types, as a ring chart with a legend.Yes
Top 10 RelationsThe ten most frequent relation types, as a ranked list.Yes

When a chart has no data for the current search and range, it shows No activity in this time range. Widen the date range, clear the search, or import documents. If a chart fails to load, it shows Couldn’t load this chart with a Retry button.

The entity, attribute, and relation charts depend on AI processing. If AI processing is turned off on your installation, these charts stay empty and the Entities and Relations totals are 0.

Documents for a chart value

Click a slice, a legend row, or a ranked-list row to open a list of the documents that contain that value.

The list shows a heading such as Documents for "Cluj", the number of documents, and up to 20 documents. Each row has an eye icon (View document) and the file name. Click the eye icon to open the document in File View.

To close the list, click the X, press Esc, or click outside it.

Search language reference

The Stats page uses the same search language as Search. You can use plain words, quoted phrases, or keyword filters.

Plain text searches

Use a plain search when you want IntQuest to look for normal text inside documents.

  • invoice
  • contract amendment
  • risk report

If you use no keyword at all, IntQuest treats the search as plain text and looks through document content.

Plain-text pattern matching

Plain-text searches support the * wildcard at the start or end of a word or phrase. It changes how IntQuest matches text:

PatternModeWhat it matches
fraudExact wordOnly the word “fraud” at word boundaries
fraud*PrefixWords starting with “fraud” (fraud, fraudulent, fraudster)
*bankSuffixWords ending with “bank” (databank, Eurobank)
*audit*ContainsWords containing “audit” anywhere
money launderingExact phraseThe exact phrase “money laundering”
money laundering*Phrase prefixPhrases starting with “money laundering”
*money launderingPhrase suffixPhrases ending with “money laundering”
*money laundering*Phrase containsText containing “money laundering” anywhere

Keyword filters

Keyword filters tell IntQuest exactly what kind of match you want. Each keyword targets a specific type of annotation stored in the system.

KeywordExampleWhat it finds
entity:entity:"Maria Popescu"Documents containing an entity that includes that name
entity_exact:entity_exact:"Maria Popescu"Documents where the entity text matches exactly
relation:relation:works_atDocuments containing that relation type
subject:subject:"John Smith"Documents where that entity is the left side of a relation
object:object:"Acme Corp"Documents where that entity is the right side of a relation
topic:topic:FraudDocuments assigned to that topic. class:Fraud gives the same result.
attribute:attribute:PERSONDocuments with entities carrying that attribute label

You can also filter on document fields with name:, type:, language:, and class:, for example type:"pdf". Keyword and field filters are case-insensitive.

Combining keyword filters

Use AND or OR to combine multiple keyword filters in one search.

  • entity:"Maria Popescu" AND relation:works_at — both conditions must match.
  • subject:"John Smith" AND object:"Acme Corp" — both conditions must match.
  • topic:Fraud OR topic:Corruption — either condition matches.
  • topic:Fraud AND NOT relation:works_at — NOT before a filter excludes documents that match it.
  • *audit* AND type:"pdf" — a plain-text pattern combined with a field filter.

Rules to remember

  • Write AND or OR clearly between keyword filters.
  • Do not leave out the connector word. For example, do not write topic:Fraud relation:works_at.
  • Do not mix AND and OR in one keyword-filter expression.
  • Use quotes when the value contains spaces.
  • Keywords and the words AND, OR, and NOT are case-insensitive. entity: and Entity: work the same way.
  • If IntQuest can’t parse a keyword search, it searches the whole text as plain text instead, which usually returns broader results.

Difference between entity and entity_exact

  • entity is looser. It wraps your value with wildcards automatically, so it matches entities that contain the text you typed.
  • entity_exact is stricter. It matches only entities where the stored text is exactly what you typed.

Use entity when you are exploring and want broad results. Use entity_exact when you know the precise entity name.

Invalid or risky examples

  • topic:Fraud relation:works_at Missing AND or OR between the two filters.
  • topic:Fraud AND relation:works_at OR attribute:PERSON Mixed boolean logic in one keyword expression.
  • entity:"Maria Popescu Missing the closing quote.

Notes

  • Stats and Search keep separate search text and date ranges. Changing the range on one page doesn’t change the other. Saved filters are shared.
  • Documents Over Time is the only chart that you can’t click.
  • The summary strip and all six charts follow the same search and date range. If the numbers seem too small, clear the search field and widen the range.
  • The Updated time and the date fields use your browser’s time zone.
