Dashboards

Build dashboards of metric widgets that summarize your asset estate, and open, duplicate, export or edit them.

Overview

Dashboards are collections of metric widgets that give you a visual overview of your asset estate: how many assets you have, where they were discovered, how confidently they are identified, and what hardware and software they run. Open Dashboard in the Operate group of the sidebar to see every dashboard in your tenant.

There are three kinds of dashboard:

  • Built-in: provided and maintained by the platform. They cover security, compliance, hardware and operations.
  • Custom: created by your team and fully editable.
  • Default: the dashboard that opens first for your team. Any dashboard can be the default.

Viewing dashboards needs dashboard:read. Creating, editing, duplicating and deleting dashboards and widgets needs dashboard:write.

Screen tour

  1. New dashboard: opens the New dashboard dialog. Refresh next to it reloads the list, and the ? button explains the three kinds of dashboard.
  2. Stat band: shows the number of Dashboards (built-in and custom), the total Widgets across all dashboards, the current Default dashboard and the number of Built-in dashboards.
  3. Filter chips: All, Built-in, Custom and Default. Each chip shows how many dashboards it matches.
  4. Search dashboards: filters cards by name or description. Press / anywhere on the page to jump here. The search term is kept in the address bar, so you can share a filtered view.
  5. Sort: Default order, Name A–Z, Name Z–A, Most widgets or Recently updated.
  6. Actions menu (⋮): Open, Edit details, Duplicate and Delete.
  7. Open: opens the dashboard. You can also click the dashboard name.

Each card shows the dashboard name, its Default, Built-in or Custom badge, the description, up to four widget names (with +N more for the rest), the widget count and when it was last updated.

Default order puts the default dashboard first, then dashboards with the most widgets, then sorts by name. The list shows the first 15 dashboards. When more match, click View all N dashboards to see them all.

When a built-in dashboard has no widgets, it shows Built-in dashboards are read-only. Duplicate this dashboard to add widgets. with a Duplicate to customize button.

View a dashboard

  1. Export: downloads the data behind every widget as a CSV file named after the dashboard, with the columns widget, metric, category and value.
  2. Duplicate: copies the dashboard and its widgets into a new custom dashboard. On a built-in dashboard this is the primary button, Duplicate to customize.
  3. Edit: changes the name, description and default flag. On custom dashboards.
  4. Add widget: adds a metric widget to the dashboard. On custom dashboards.
  5. Delete dashboard (trash): deletes a custom dashboard.
  6. Stat band: Assets assessed (from an Asset count by type widget), Health score (from an Asset health score widget), the number of Widgets, and whether the dashboard is Built-in or Custom with its last update.
  7. Configure (pencil) and Remove (trash): change a widget’s title and display order, or remove it from the dashboard. On custom dashboards.
  8. Drill-down link: opens the asset inventory filtered or sorted to match the widget, for example Open inventory or Review low-confidence assets.

Every widget card shows the metric name above the widget title, the chart, and a one-line definition of the metric. Charts show:

  • A ranked list for distributions. Each row shows the count and its share of the total. On Asset count by type and Assets by discovery source, click a row to open the asset inventory filtered to that category. On Assets by confidence, the high and medium rows open the inventory filtered to that confidence or higher, and the low row opens it sorted by confidence, lowest first.
  • A trend line for Assets discovered over time.
  • A large score with High, Medium and Low bands for Asset health score.
  • A single large number for Assets awaiting normalization.

When a metric has no data, the widget shows No data available yet. If loading a metric is interrupted, the widget shows Failed to load metric; click Retry.
