Asset Inventory
Search, filter, tag, mute, export and add the assets DeviceQuest tracks, and act on many assets at once.
Overview
Asset Inventory lists every asset DeviceQuest tracks in your tenant: devices found by network scans, hosts reporting through an agent, hypervisors and virtual machines, cloud resources and the assets you add by hand. Use it to find an asset, narrow the list with filters, and act on many assets at once. Open Asset Inventory in the Operate group of the sidebar.
What you can do depends on your permissions:
assets:read: view, search, filter, export and copy assets.assets:write: Add Asset, Add tag and Mute.assets:delete: Delete.credentials:write: Assign credential and Remove credential.
You see the buttons for the actions your role allows.

The table has these columns:
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| State | How recently the asset was seen (see Statuses), plus Muted when the asset is muted. |
| Asset | Name, type icon, IP address, tags, confidence meter, number of sources and time of the latest update. Click the name to open Asset details. |
| OS | Operating system name and version, when known. |
| Type | The asset type. Hypervisors and virtual machines also carry a Hypervisor or Virtual tag. |
| Last seen | Time since the asset was last observed. Hover to see the exact date and time. |
The footer shows the visible range, for example Showing 1–25 of 230, and how many rows you have selected.
Stat tiles
| Tile | Counts | Click to |
|---|---|---|
| Total | All assets in scope, from scans and agents. | Clear every filter. |
| Stale | Assets not seen in 30 or more days. These may be decommissioned or disconnected. | Show only those assets. Click again to remove the filter. |
| Unmanaged | Assets found by network scan, with no agent installed. Install an agent to collect full OS, software and hardware details. | Show only unmanaged assets. |
| At Risk | Assets with open critical or high-severity vulnerabilities. Remediate these first. | Show only assets with open vulnerabilities. |
Hover the ? on a tile for a short explanation.
Filter the list
- Click Add filter.
- Choose any combination of filters. The list updates as you choose.
- Click Done to close the panel, or Reset filters to clear them.
- Type: one or more asset types.
- Tag: one or more tags.
- Confidence: minimum identification confidence: Any, ≥ 50%, ≥ 70% or ≥ 90%.
- Managed: Any, Managed (agent installed) or Unmanaged (network scan only).
- Vulnerabilities: Has open vulns shows only assets with open vulnerabilities.
- Last seen: After and Before dates.
- Reset filters and Done: clear every filter, or close the panel. The footer shows how many filters are applied.
Each active filter appears as a chip below the toolbar, for example Type: Device, Tag: production, Confidence ≥ 70%, Not seen since Sep 13, 2026 or Unmanaged only. Click × on a chip to remove that filter, or Clear all to remove every filter.
Filters, search, sort and page are stored in the address bar. Refresh, the browser’s back button and shared links keep the same view. Dashboard widgets link here with filters already applied, for example by type or discovery source.
Select assets and act on them
Select assets with the checkbox on each row, or use the header checkbox to select every row on the page. The bulk action bar appears at the bottom of the page.
- N selected and Clear: how many assets are selected; Clear deselects them. You can also press Esc.
- Add tag and Mute: tag the selected assets, or mute and unmute them.
- Export and Copy: export the selected assets as CSV, or copy their names and IP addresses.
- Credentials: Assign credential or Remove credential.
- Delete: permanently delete the selected assets.
Changing a filter, search or page clears the selection.
Add a tag
- Select the assets and click Add tag.
- Type a Tag, for example
production. Existing tags that match are suggested as you type. - Click Add tag or press Enter.
The tag is added to every selected asset. Existing tags are kept.
Mute or unmute assets
Muting suppresses alerts for an asset. The mute stays active until you unmute the asset.
- Select the assets and click Mute.
- Optionally choose a Review reminder: No reminder, In 7 days, In 30 days or In 90 days. The reminder date is stored with the mute as a prompt to review it; the mute stays active until you unmute.
- Click Mute N assets.
If every selected asset is already muted, the dialog becomes Unmute assets; click Unmute N assets to re-enable alerts. If your selection mixes muted and active assets, choose Mute N active or Unmute N muted at the top of the dialog.
- Review reminder (optional): when to review the mute.
- Mute N assets: mutes the selected assets.
Assign or remove a scan credential
Each asset can have one default scan credential per credential type. A default overrides the credential set on the scan schedule when that asset is scanned.
To assign a credential:
- Select the assets, click Credentials and then Assign credential.
- Choose a Credential. The list shows each credential’s name and type.
- Click Assign credential. Any existing default credential of the same type on those assets is replaced.
To remove a credential:
- Select the assets, click Credentials and then Remove credential.
- Choose a Credential type: WMI, SSH, SNMP, PROXMOX or VMWARE.
- Click Remove credential. Assets without a default of that type are unaffected.
Credentials themselves are managed on the Scan Credentials page.
Export assets
- With assets selected, Export in the bulk bar downloads those assets.
- With nothing selected, Export in the toolbar downloads every asset that matches the current search and filters, up to 5,000 assets. A message confirms how many assets were exported.
Copy assets
Copy puts the name and IP address of each selected asset on the clipboard, one asset per line, separated by a tab. With nothing selected it copies the rows on the current page. The copy button on a single row copies just that asset.
Delete assets
- Select the assets and click Delete.
- In Delete N assets?, click Delete N assets to confirm.
Deleting permanently removes the assets and their scan history.
Add an asset
Add an asset by hand for devices outside the reach of your scans and agents, for example a device on an isolated network.
- Click Add Asset.
- Enter a Name and choose an Asset Type.
- Fill in any identifiers you know: Hostname, IP Address, MAC Address, Manufacturer, Model, Serial Number, OS Name and OS Version.
- Optionally add Tags: type a tag and press Enter or click Add. Click × on a tag to remove it.
- Click Add Asset.
DeviceQuest creates the asset and opens its detail page. When a scan or agent later reports the same device, its observations are matched to this asset by its identifiers.
- Name: required.
- Asset Type: the kind of asset.
- Identifiers: hostname, network addresses, hardware and OS details.
- Tags: labels for grouping and filtering.
- Add Asset: creates the asset.
