Administration

Manage people, roles, security policy, audit evidence, host agents and the reference data DeviceQuest works with.

Everything an administrator configures for the whole organisation, grouped by task:

People and access

  1. Users and invitations: invite people, see who has access, and deactivate or reactivate accounts.
  2. User details: one person’s profile, roles, sessions and audit trail.
  3. Roles and permissions: build custom roles from permissions, and see which page needs which permission.

Security

  1. MFA policy: require multi-factor authentication per role and help people who are not enrolled.
  2. Single sign-on (SAML): connect your identity provider.
  3. API keys: issue, rotate and revoke keys for integrations.
  4. Audit log: search, follow and export every recorded action.
  5. Audit retention: decide how long audit events are kept and archived.

Host agents

  1. Host agents: see enrolled agents, send them commands and queue scans.
  2. Enroll an agent: create a bootstrap credential and install the agent on Linux or Windows.

Data quality and reference data

  1. Software curation: review how discovered software is normalised.
  2. Custom fields: add your own fields to assets.
  3. Cleanup rules: find and handle stale assets on a schedule.
  4. CVE feeds: keep vulnerability intelligence up to date.
  5. SNMP MIBs: load vendor MIB files so SNMP data gets readable names.

In this section

01

Users and invitations

Invite people, see who has access and how recently they signed in, and deactivate or reactivate accounts.

02

User details

See one person's profile, roles, sign-in sessions and audit trail, and change their name, roles or account status.

03

Roles and permissions

Build custom roles from permissions, assign them to people, require MFA per role, and see which page needs which permission.

04

MFA policy

Require multi-factor authentication per role, see who has not enrolled yet, and reset MFA for people who lost their device.

05

SSO (SAML)

Connect your SAML 2.0 identity provider so people sign in to DeviceQuest with their company account, and test, refresh, disable or remove the connection.

06

API keys

Create API keys for integrations and scripts, choose their scopes and lifetime, and rotate or revoke them.

07

Audit log

Search, filter, follow live and export the record of every privileged and administrative action in your organisation.

08

Audit retention

Decide how long audit events stay online and how long their encrypted archives are kept, check archive health, and run an archive pass on demand.

09

Host agents

See every enrolled host agent, send it management commands, queue one-off or recurring scans, and revoke agents you no longer trust.

10

Enroll an agent

Download the DeviceQuest agent, issue a one-time bootstrap credential, and install and enroll the agent on a Linux or Windows host.

11

Software curation

Review software names that DeviceQuest could not map with confidence, then approve a canonical name or reject the match.

12

Custom fields

Add your own attributes, such as building, department or cost centre, to every asset record.

13

Cleanup rules

Define which stale assets to remove, preview how many match, and run the cleanup by hand or on a schedule.

14

CVE feeds

Monitor the vulnerability feeds DeviceQuest downloads CVEs from, and set their schedules, priorities and API tokens.

15

SNMP MIBs

Browse the MIB library that translates SNMP OIDs into names and identifies devices, and upload, re-parse or delete vendor MIBs.
